DesignHub Moves to New Offices in Saline’s Hoyt-Ford School Buildings

SALINE, MI – DesignHub, Inc., a creative services and marketing firm, has moved to new offices in Saline’s historic Hoyt-Ford School buildings on Michigan Avenue (US-12) on the banks of the Saline River.

DesignHub’s new address is 600 W. Michigan Ave., Saline, MI 48176. The firm was previously located at 135 E. Bennett St., Suite 12, Saline, MI 48176.

DesignHub’s other contact information remains the same. The firm can be reached by phone at (734) 944-8705, by fax at (734) 944-8735, by email at info@design-hub.com, and online at http://www.design-hub.com.

“We’re delighted with our new offices,” says Karen Ragland, co-founder and president of DesignHub. “It’s an exceptionally maintained building with historic significance and quaint charm. It’s also conveniently located in surroundings of natural beauty. There’s plenty of parking for our clients. They should very much enjoy visiting us here.”

DesignHub’s new home was once Hoyt-Ford School, used by Henry Ford for the education of the children of his employees at Village Industries, an innovative enterprise aimed at connecting agricultural science with automobile manufacturing.

In 1937, Ford bought and refurbished Saline’s old Schuyler Mill on US-12, moved it back from the road by about 30 feet, and built a soybean extraction plant just behind it to the south. Oil from the soybeans was used in paints and automobile parts.

A few years after buying Schuyler Mill, Ford acquired Hoyt School on Saline’s Macon Road and had it reconstructed at its present location across from the mill. Here the children of Ford’s Village Industries employees were taught each school day.

Both the soybean operation and Hoyt-Ford School closed in 1947. But the riverside structures live on with new purposes. Schuyler Mill is now Wellers, a favorite site for wedding receptions and other festive events. And the Hoyt-Ford School buildings are today home to three professional services firms.

In addition to DesignHub, the Hoyt-Ford School buildings house Phoenix Packaging Corp., a designer and provider of packaging materials, and the Guess Agency of MEEMIC Insurance Company, which offers insurance protection for educational employees and their immediate families. Chris and Patricia Molloy, proprietors of Phoenix Packaging Corp., are the owners of the Hoyt-Ford School buildings.

DesignHub works with clients on branding, websites, brochures, annual reports, newsletters, public relations, press kits, advertising, direct mail, packaging designs, and exhibit signage, as well as marketing strategies and plans.

Principals of DesignHub include: Karen Ragland, business manager and account executive; Ted Chesky, creative director and graphic designer; and Chris Kochmanski, marketing strategist and copywriter. The company was founded in 1999.
