Community Involvement

Pardon the cliché, but it’s simply the truth: DesignHub is committed to giving back to the communities that have supported our business. Here are just a few ways we contribute.

Around our company’s home town of Saline, our co-founder Karen Ragland is known as the community volunteer par excellence. She’s a past president of the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce. She has also served as treasurer, executive board member, and interim head of Saline Main Street, the organization dedicated to our downtown’s vitality. Karen has been the Saline Rotary Club’s treasurer, and an executive organizer of Saline Summerfest. That’s all just to start. No surprise that Karen was named Saline’s Citizen of the Year in 2007.

DesignHub partner Chris Kochmanski also volunteers in Saline. He’s currently on the board of Saline Main Street, and heads up the organization’s Communications Strategy Team. Chris contributes elsewhere in Washtenaw County too. He was involved from the start with Ann Arbor Spark, the county’s economic development organization. (Chris suggested the name Spark, and we designed the logo.) He founded Spark’s Marketing Roundtable and continues to deliver the marketing presentation every other month at the “Start Your Own Business” program at Spark East in Ypsilanti. Chris is also a past board member of the Ann Arbor Ad Club, and a past marketing consultant in residence with Athena PowerLink Forum.

DesignHub regularly sponsors community and charitable programs and events in Washtenaw County. The recipients of our support have included: C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital (University of Michigan), Evangelical Homes of Michigan, Food Gatherers, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Saline Area Schools, Saline Area Youth Baseball Association, Saline Celtic Festival, the Student Advocacy Center of Michigan, and many, many, many more.

We’re particularly proud of our work with Saline Area Social Service, a vital resource to our community members in need. We designed and developed the SASS website, and we continue to maintain it. We also help with the organization’s fundraising appeals.
